Book Shipment

Educational inequality remains a significant challenge in underprivileged regions, where access to books is limited. Initially, FractionForFuture planned to ship books to Marafa, Kenya, but due to logistical constraints, customs complications, and geopolitical instability in the Red Sea region, the project pivoted to focus on Sint Maarten and The Gambia.

To ensure the books reached communities where they were most needed, FractionForFuture partnered with Biblionefand BeNe Gambia, both experienced in coordinating book shipments to underserved schools and libraries. Through these collaborations, 800 books were shipped and strategically allocated:

  • 400 medical textbooks were sent to Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in The Gambia to support medical students, doctors, and healthcare professionals in their training and research.
  • 400 fiction and non-fiction books were distributed to schools and libraries in Sint Maarten, where they were integrated into literacy programs to enhance reading skills and educational development.

The book selection process was informed by discussions with librarians, school principals, and educators to ensure the materials were age-appropriate, culturally relevant, and aligned with academic needs. Despite some challenges in customs clearance, the books were successfully delivered and are now being used by students in both regions.

This initiative not only bridges educational resource gaps but also encourages a culture of reading and lifelong learning. Moving forward, FractionForFuture aims to expand book shipments to additional locations, ensuring that more students worldwide have access to quality educational materials.
