Sports Field
Physical activity is essential for child development, yet many schools in rural Kenya lack proper recreational facilities. At St. Joseph the Worker Primary School, 144 children had no structured play areas or sports equipment, limiting their physical and social growth.
To address this, FractionForFuture collaborated with teachers, local fundis, and Dutch sports educators to construct a multipurpose sports field behind the school. The project focused on:
- Leveling the terrain – The uneven ground was carefully graded to create a safe playing area.
- Equipment installation – Football goals, volleyball nets, and climbing structures were installed.
- Inclusive design – The field was designed for various activities, ensuring participation from all students, regardless of skill level.
By engaging students in the design process, the project encouraged community ownership and ensured the space met their needs. Today, the sports field serves as a vital hub for recreation, teamwork, and physical well-being.
